The 40th Budapest Spring Festival, awaits visitors with a programme that involves many of the arts, with events in classical music, opera, jazz, world music, dance, contemporary circus, theatre and the visual arts. With the best Hungarian performers and real world stars, the Budapest Spring Festival is a truly special occasion, presenting premieres and co-productions with partner institutions.
For the past four decades, the Budapest Spring Festival has been a herald of renewal and a celebration of urban diversity, and this year, following years of restrictions and social distancing, we are delighted to provide everyone with the chance to meet up in person, explore venues, and engage with exciting topics. The city will be dancing, playing music, playing games, and celebrating for over two weeks, and we invite everyone, as contemporaries, to get involved in this riot of colour and celebration.
Through their stories, performers and other contributors will give us a snapshot of our world, both as it is and as it could be, with events that cross lines of district, community, and genre to connect residents and visitors.
The line-up, including art and cultural events, offers numerous opportunities for joint play and involvement, in addition to traditional forms. Modelled on the “experience routes” introduced at the Budapest Autumn Festival, several themes are recommended for joint consideration, including maternity, “Europeanness”, and sustainability.
