Rewire will be back in The Hague for four days, from April 6 to April 9, 2023, including an array of musical and interdisciplinary performances, specifically commissioned works, club nights, installations, discussions, films, and more.
Rewire is a festival of electronic and alternative music that is held in a number of locations in The Hague, Netherlands. Since the festival’s debut in 2011, it has only had one objective: to offer a platform for the discussion and performance of progressive music. Rewire supports the blending of sounds to produce something previously unheard, most frequently built on electronic instrumentation, while eschewing genre limits.
Rewire has served as a hub for the introduction of avant-garde musicians, recognized artists, and up-and-coming fresh talents since 2011. For its 11th edition in April 2022, Rewire occupied the city’s core and its surrounds, showcasing innovative and genre-bending music in a variety of settings such as concert halls, theaters, churches, nightclubs, galleries, and open areas.
Rewire was pleased to present a multi-day focus event in 2022 that honored Meredith Monk, a prominent composer, performer, and multidisciplinary artist. Another standout is Les Percussions de Strasbourg’s performance of Ryoji Ikeda’s 100 Cymbals, an acoustic creation by the pioneer of electronic music. Additionally, newly commissioned works by Helm & Nate Boyce, Slikback x Weirdcore, and Myxomy (James Ginzburg & Zir) were premiered at Rewire. The program also included special concerts by well-known performers who all debuted new albums, including Grouper, Jenny Hval, Mira Calix, and Circuit des Yeux.
