Reworks is a collection of sounds and ideas, a meeting point for loud voices, a place for dialogue and information, a window to the future. Hailing from Thessaloniki, Greece it aims to present the wide spectrum of contemporary music through the work of international and domestic artists. From experimental sound and modern classical music to contemporary dance electronic, from the performances of established artists to the first shows of new and emerging talents, Reworks is aiming to give 5 days and nights full of joy, music, opinion sharing, thinking and dance. Musical styles, live concerts, workshops, talks, free events are presented every year, transforming Thessaloniki into a meeting place for music and culture enthusiasts from all over the world to Greece.
Resound / Echos of Thessaloniki
What kind of a story do the sounds of a city tell about the city itself? To what extend the citizens of Thessaloniki have linked it with specific natural sounds? If Thessaloniki had a soundtrack how would that sound like?
Reworks Festival presents Resound/Echos of Thessaloniki an ambitious project which is supported by the Touristic Organisation of Thessaloniki. Its aim is the creation of the soundtrack for the city by musicians from all over the world based on natural sounds found on various spots around its urban landscape. Reworks announces an open call for music producers and musicians from Greece and abroad to a music dialogue.
Agora
Reworks Agora opened the first day of Reworks 2016 and Thessaloniki embraced it warmly. This year as well Reworks Agora is here to open the festival for 2017. The latest project of Reworks is a multi-dynamic and cross-thematic forum with international appeal, which aims to present to the audience of Thessaloniki, speakers, initiatives and experts in the broader fields of music, technology, creative economy and culture. Workshops, debates, presentations, film screenings and documentaries, concerts will take place this year to inspire a common future vision for music, digital culture, technology and cultural entrepreneurship while contributing to their development in Greece.
In 2017, Reworks Agora is pleased to welcome European Lab by Nuits Sonores and Movements + New Ideas by Insomnia to co-curate part of the panels.
We are Europe
We are Europe is the association of 8 major European events joining forces to promote, create and produce innovative cultural practices, defined by creative diversity and exchanges. It is a new generation of change-makers joining forces for independence and innovative cultural practices and contents. We are Europe gathers and mobilizes the energy of eight events (both festivals & forums), supporting European culture, high artistic standards, cultural innovation and independence.
With the moto Today’s ideas for tomorrow’s culture, this collective effort aims to put forward a new generation of European cultural change-makers, contribute to the re-mobilization of citizens in building the European project by culture, promote electronic & digital cultures as an essential motor to European culture, and encourage exchanges which are more than ever necessary between ideas and works, artists, and audience.
